The problem I see with this ( & it’s definitely my biased mom opinion) is that my son is a drug addict- white. He’s completely out of control in his disease. He’s wanted on 6 warrants. He’s running scared. He won’t apply for any services because they have threatened him with 20 yrs for possession only on all his warrants ( no violent crimes) he’s lost 100 lbs because of course, the disease tells him drugs and money are more important than food. He has no money and is a criminal risk for breaking the law to feed his cravings. Let’s say this scenario happened to him & he died. Would he get the support? Would he be a martyr? No. He wouldn’t. Because of his “white privilege”. Yet the pain is the same, his kids hurt deeply because they don’t have a dad in their life-( & he loves his kids- his disease just lies to him daily, hourly ) this mom cries every single night & every single lunch hour just like a colored mom would. Why is it any different?????? My son is just as valuable as George Floyd. We have zero money left to help him. To pay got an interventionalist to pull him out of this vicious cycle BEFORE a similar situation happens…which if it does, we wouldn’t have 15 million $ to help with our grief..

I don’t have the answers but I know pain is pain no matter what color…….
